The Piney River Bluegrass Festival will  feature live local bluebrass bands including Mark Templeton and Pocket Change ( 4PM and 9PM), Little Mountain Boys (11AM, 3PM, and  8PM), Country Poor (1PM and 6PM), In The Tradition ( 12 Noon and 5PM), and Aspen Run (2PM and 7PM) . Artists and appearance times subject to change without notice. Fee. This outdoor event will be held rain or shine. Bring a lawn chair. This is a family event. Band Fair to Benefit North Branch School at Cardinal Point Winery. A fun, family friendly afternoon of music and activities to benefit our neighbors, the North Branch School in Afton, Virginia. Music TBA. There will be Live Music, activities for children, a cakewalk, and an art show by North Branch School students. Proceeds benefit North Branch School. Nelson County Sheriff’s Office is sponsoring an interactive cop camp for current 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. It will be held at the Nelson County Middle School June 20th through June 22nd. Students may be dropped off as early as 7am and picked up each day by 5pm. Lunch and drinks provided each day. Applications can be picked up at the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office. The registration fee will be $30 and will be limited to the first forty students.  Cop Camp will be planning a field trip this year for students to visit the Central Virginia Criminal Justice Academy. There will be an additional permission form for parents to sign giving students permission to attend.
