NELSON LIBRARY PLANS FUTURE GROWTH
The Torn Land Fund and Friends of Jefferson-Madison Library have jointly funded a feasibility study for the future expansion of Nelson Memorial Library. A committee representing the County, the Regional Library, and the Nelson Library Advisory Committee selected Charlottesville architects Train & Partners to conduct the study. The current library building in Lovingston opened 20 years ago. The steady growth in public use, book collections, and computer technology have led to the need for additional library space. Currently, Nelson Memorial Library has over 5,000 visitors each month.
The architect will hold a preliminary meeting with the Library Advisory Committee, Monday, September 15, 4:00 p.m., at the library to discuss future library needs. Members of the public are welcome to attend the meeting to share ideas with the architect. The feasibility study will be completed within the next several months.
