Virginia is For Lovers® was established in 1969, 50 years ago, and has become one of the most beloved and well-known slogans in the world. While it has meant a lot of different things to a lot of different people, one thing hasn’t changed – the LOVE.
Nelson County Tourism is partnering with twelve local businesses to celebrate the 50th anniversary -Nelson Style. Partners include the new Nelson 29 craft beverage trail, Nelson 151, the Brew Ridge Trail, Afton Mountain Vineyards, Blue Mountain Brewery, Bold Rock Cidery, Devils Backbone Brewing Company, Drumheller’s Orchard, Lockn’ Festival, Saunder’s Brothers Farm Market, Veritas Vineyard and Winery, Virginia Distillery Company and Wild Wolf Brewing Company.
The campaign launches at the Lockn’ Festival August 22-25 with a ‘Name your ___ Years of Love’ contest for super VIP tickets and amazing new Virginia is for Lovers photo opps at the festival, all designed to Share the Love. The final events in the series for Veritas’ Starry Nights (August 10) and Afton Mountain’s Afton After Hours (August 24) will promote the Share the Love campaign. Wild Wolf’s promotion includes 50 Beers for 50 Years, with 50 tap lines tagged during 50 tap takeovers. Late August, September and October Full Nelson Fridays at Blue Mountain Brewery will also advertise the Share the Love campaign. The Celebrate Autumn Festival at Saunders Brothers (September 21) and Drumheller’s Apple Harvest Festival (October 19-20) will be family friendly events dedicated to the 50 Years of Love. Virginia Distillery Company has created a new event for the celebration – Spirited Soiree, slated for September 7. Devils Backbone’s Hoopla (September 27-30) will continue the campaign. Nelson County’s 50 Years of Love activation will culminate with Bold Rock Cidery’s Fall Festival October 26th.”
