Tyro
Adventure hub for serious hikers and outdoor enthusiasts. Home to the Three Ridges Wilderness Area, featuring a challenging 13.3-mile loop trail that combines the Appalachian Trail with the blue-blazed Mau-Har Trail, creating one of the best loop trails in Virginia. The rugged terrain includes the 50-foot Campbell's Creek waterfall and offers a strenuous yet rewarding two-day hiking experience. Access the trails from Route 56 or Reeds Gap/Route 664. Visit Silver Creek Orchards, a seventh-generation family-owned farm offering over 20 apple varieties with pick-your-own events on the second weekends of September and October. Stay at Parr's Camp, a restored rustic fishing cabin from the 1940s on 70 acres bordering the George Washington National Forest and the Tye River, or High Lonesome Cabin, a secluded retreat minutes from Crabtree Falls.
