Spindle Hill Farm

Two extraordinary homes on one 50 acre family farm. Our handcrafted guest cottage has been one of Nelson County’s most beloved rentals for more than a decade, and we’re excited to be able to offer the historic 1932 Wintergreen School House as an additional rental on our 50 acre family homestead. Both spaces are extraordinary, carefully curated, rich in local history and art, and designed to be ecologically sensitive.

On an 19th C. family farm, the Cottage and School House at Spindle Hill Farm are beautiful, light-filled spaces furnished with unique textiles, antiques, art, and books. Both are in the best part of Nelson County, but very private, on a dead-end road that only serves our farm. The Cottage (sleeps 5) features a handcrafted cedar hot tub, Jotul woodstove, and clawfoot tub, and the historic 1932 School House (sleeps 6) has its original, enormous Rosenwald-style window bank, fireplace, two private ponds, and a gorgeous patio. Every detail has been considered in both, and you’ll see why these spaces are destinations unto themselves. Private walking & hiking trails, within walking distance of Devil’s Backbone Brewery and Bold Rock, the Rockfish Valley Loop Trail, and minutes from Wintergreen Resort and the Appalachian Trail, our farm is a creative oasis and a one-of-a-kind experience.
